Here are some of the events in metro NYC and on Long Island
The Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade
This parade is one of the most popular Halloween Pet events. Hundreds of dogs are paraded around in their cute costumes and thousands attend to watch. This year’s parade will be sponsored by Purina Beggin’ with contestants competing for thousands of dollars in prizes.
When: Saturday, October 25 from 12-3 p.m.
Where: Tompkins Square Park
16th Annual Great PUPkin Festival
The 16th Annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest is one of the largest dog costume contest in Brooklyn. The festival will be held in conjunction with the Halloween Fest for kids making it fun for both pets and kids. They ask for a $5 donation per entrant to cover event costs. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at the monument plaza.
When: Saturday, October 25 at Noon (Rain date will be on Sunday, October 26)
Where: Fort Green Park monument stairs
12th Annual Brooklyn Howl-o-Ween Muttsqarade Pet Parade & Photo Contest
Another costume parade for the dog lovers will be held at the Heights Promenade. The event is free to watch and a fee to participate to benefit the charities for animals. All entries receive a goodie bag for their doggie. You can register at Perfect Paws Inc. located at 102 Hicks St.
When: Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 1-3 p.m.
Where: Brooklyn Heights Promenade Remsen Street entrance
The best dressed dogs can compete at the Howl-o-ween costume contest in the Bronx. To benefit the dog run, $10 and pre-registration is required at (718) 796-4541.
When: Sunday, October 26 at Noon
Where: Van Cortlandt Park 1 Bronx River Parkway (Enter at Broadway and 252nd street, Bronx, NY)
Halloween Harvest Festival
This event is not just for your pets, it’s for everyone too. There will be fun activities such as costume and art-making, cooking demos, face painting and concert for kids and adults. You can start the morning with these fun activities before enjoying the annual canine costume contest later on.
When: Saturday, October 25 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (The canine costume contest will be from 2-3 p.m.)

Halloween Harvest: Dog Parade and Costume Contest
You can take a stroll through Luna Park with your pet all dressed up for the holiday event. Contest winners will receive a bag of goodies for their dog and $100 for the doggie parent. There are other Halloween Harvest activities for humans as well.
When: Sunday, October 26 from 2-4 p.m.

The West 68th Street Block Association’s Community Autumn Festival
Most pet costume parades have been dominated by dogs but this parade features dogs and cats. To participate, you should assemble at TD Bank at 68th Street and Broadway at 2 p.m. There will also be fun human activities such as face-painting, photo booth, live music and food.
